Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior Charge Nurse/Midwife (SCN/M) Admin Assistant to join our dynamic team supporting Maternity in the Princess Royal Maternity.

This pivotal administrative role offers confidential and efficient clerical support to Senior Charge Midwives across the hospital, managing communications, coordinating diaries, and ensuring smooth administrative operations in a fast‑paced environment.

    Full‑time, 37 hours per week
  • Shift pattern:
    Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage SCN diaries and coordinate meetings to ensure effective time management.
  • Handle routine correspondence and direct enquiries appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems and personnel records in line with GDPR.
  • Input and manage staff data using systems such as eESS and SSTS.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and standard documentation.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including consultants, directors, and nursing teams.
  • Provide cross‑cover within the department and support audits and evaluation.
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience Required
  • HNC/SVQIII in Secretarial Studies/Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work without close supervision, using initiative.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow protocols for work areas and contribute to review of these protocols.
  • Advanced keyboard skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional attitude, especially under pressure.
