Temporary Housing Assistant (8-Week Contract)

Contract: Temporary - 8 Weeks
Hours: 35 hour week

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Assistant to join a well-established Registered Social Landlord (RSL) on an 8-week temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in social housing who enjoys working in a varied, customer-focused role within a busy Housing Management team.
This position offers a mix of frontline customer service, housing administration, allocations support, estate management and general office duties, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently manage a varied workload.
Responsibilities
- Support the Housing Management team with day-to-day administrative duties.
- Manage and respond to enquiries received through the Housing Management inbox.
- Process housing applications, supporting documentation and tenancy references.
- Assist with the allocations process, including arranging viewings, allocation appointments and settling-in visits.
- Prepare tenancy sign-up documentation and maintain accurate electronic records.
- Provide administrative support for anti-social behaviour casework, including preparing correspondence and updating case records.
- Assist with estate inspections and support Housing Officers during tenant visits where required.
- Support rent administration and respond to general customer enquiries.
- Provide reception cover, welcoming tenants, applicants, contractors and visitors.
- Carry out general office administration including filing, scanning, mail handling and maintaining accurate records.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience working within a Registered Social Landlord (RSL), local authority housing service or similar social housing environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong administrative and organisational abilities with a high level of accuracy.
- Confidence dealing professionally with tenants, applicants, contractors and members of the public.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
- Experience using housing management systems; knowledge of Home master would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a small, supportive team.
