Full-Time Medical Receptionist

Northwood Surgery is seeking a friendly, organised and dependable full-time Medical Receptionist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide an efficient reception service and undertake a range of administrative and telephone duties in a busy, sometimes demanding environment.

The reception is the hub of the practice for both patients and clinicians, so the ability to multi-task, remain calm under pressure and think on your feet is essential. This role requires good communication and IT skills. You will be dealing with administrative queries and requests from patients/clinicians, arranging appointments via our clinical software, giving test results/messages to patients, dealing with prescription requests, processing patient registrations and requests for our Online Services and ensuring patient details are up to date.

Applicants must be able to work our alternating shift pattern: one week from Monday to Thursday 8am–2.30pm and Friday 8am-2pm and the following week from Monday to Thursday 9.30am–6pm and Friday 10am-6pm.

Previous experience in a GP practice, medical reception or a similar healthcare setting would be advantageous, but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, willing to learn and able to work effectively as part of a team. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively, and remain calm and professional under pressure.

We may consider two part time roles who would job share, as long they are able to do the shift pattern as above.
