TheOpportunity
We’re looking for a graduate to join our Procurement Department on a two‑year graduate programme, starting in August 2026. This is your chance to immerse yourself in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation, helping Scot Rail deliver value and efficiency across its operations.

Your ambition and drive will be harnessed through work streams across the breadth of the procurement function, giving you experiences, knowledge, and connections that will shape your career journey. Throughout your time here, you’ll receive all the training and support necessary to make your mark and influence how Scot Rail manages its supply chain and procurement strategy.
The PersonTo be considered for this role you must, as a minimum:
- Qualifications (a degree) at SCQF Level 9 in Supply Chain Management, Business or Operations Management
- Be able to start in the business full‑time in August 2026
- Be detail‑oriented with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Be proactive and motivated in your approach to work, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
You’ll spend two years rotating across different procurement teams, gaining hands‑on experience in supplier engagement, contract management, and strategic sourcing. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, tackling real challenges and contributing to projects that impact the entire business.
Over the two‑year programme you will:- Support tendering and contract award processes for key projects.
- Assist in supplier performance reviews and relationship management.
- Gain experience in compliance and governance within procurement.
- Contribute to cost analysis and value‑for‑money assessments.
- Work on sustainability initiatives within the supply chain.
- Develop negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Alongside your on‑the‑job training, you’ll go on the Scot Rail Graduate Journey where you’ll have a roadmap of development to support your career. When you join us, you’ll be given a full induction to the business, including tours of some of our locations.

Working HoursThis role works Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week.
SalaryStarting Salary: £30,648 per annum.
