Operations Manager
We’re looking for a Site Manager to join our HMP Glasgow team based in Glasgow.
Location: HMP Glasgow, Glasgow
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Kier Construction has been appointed to deliver one of Scotland’s largest ever construction projects. HMP Glasgow will provide a safe, secure, energy‑efficient custodial facility to house 2,000 inmates and staff located northeast of Glasgow city. This £750 million project will replace Glasgow’s ageing Barlinnie prison with a rehabilitation‑focused modern facility, utilising cutting‑edge Modern Methods of Construction, making this a true flagship project for the Scottish construction sector.
Responsibilities- Direct subcontractor partners to safely deliver work packages and ensure work meets programme, design and quality standards.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safe and appropriate working methods.
- Coordinate site logistics, including the movement of plant and labour, whilst maintaining safety at all times.
- Manage the onsite supply chain and internal teams, reporting any issues or programme slippages to the Project Manager.
- Create, log and file site reports and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prior experience in a site management capacity within a large construction environment.
- Strong technical understanding of full build construction, including frames, envelope, roofing and internals.
- Relevant construction qualification (HND/Degree/SVQ or Technical Trade), SMSTS 5‑Day Certification, CSCS Card, First Aid Certificate and full driving licence.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the supply chain and with internal and external stakeholders.
- A passion for health and safety, confidence in speaking up to ensure protocols and best practices are followed, and IT literacy.
