An established construction business based in Glasgow is looking to appoint an Estimator to join its commercial team.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director
, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions across a varied range of construction and refurbishment projects throughout Scotland. This role would suit an estimator with a few years of industry experience who is looking to build on their existing knowledge within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Working closely with the Commercial Director and wider project teams, you will be involved in the full estimating process, from reviewing tender enquiries through to submitting competitive and commercially sound bids.
The business delivers a broad range of construction and refurbishment works across sectors including commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, public sector, and specialist building projects. Project values vary, providing a diverse workload and the opportunity to gain experience across different types of work.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assist in identifying project risks and opportunities during the tender process.
- Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients where required.
- Compile pricing schedules and supporting tender information.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and submissions.
- Support the handover of successful projects to delivery teams.
- A few years' experience in an estimating role within the construction industry.
- Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Able to manage workload effectively and meet tender deadlines.
