Role Description The Site Manager is a full-time, on-site role based near Glasgow, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on Residential Construction Sites for Houses and Flats from pre-start through completion. This role coordinates subcontractors, suppliers, and site staff to ensure work is carried out safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.
The Site Manager (Supported by and Assistant Site Manager) will monitor site progress, manage daily briefings, resolve on-site issues, and ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety requirements, and company policies.
Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and specifications, organising materials and equipment, maintaining accurate site records, and reporting regularly to Contracts Director on Progress-v-Programme, Quality, Safety and Environmental issues. The role also involves liaising with clients, NHBC inspectors, and external stakeholders, conducting site inspections, and supporting handover and snagging processes.
Qualifications
- Experience managing construction sites, with solid knowledge of residential building processes and trades coordination.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, including experience implementing site safety plans and conducting toolbox talks.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules, and to identify and resolve buildability or sequencing issues.
- Proficiency in site documentation, including programmes, daily logs, progress reports, RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), and quality inspection records.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with experience supervising site teams and collaborating with subcontractors and external partners.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain productivity in a fast-paced site environment.
- Relevant construction qualification or trade background (e.g., HNC/HND, degree in Construction Management, or equivalent experience).
- Valid CSCS card and SMSTS or SSSTS), and familiarity with UK building regulations and standards.
- Comfort using basic construction-related software or digital tools for reporting, scheduling, and communication.
- Previous experience as a Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager in the UK is highly beneficial.
