PROPOSED SALARY RANGE:
Upto 42000 (EFT) - (pro rata 0.75 upto 315000) depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of BBC Scotlands radio news coverage. As Senior Journalist on weekend radio programmes you will play a key role in delivering high quality content for our audience. You will shape the news agenda deciding on the stories we cover and how we cover them. Your experience ideas and enthusiasm will be crucial in making our programmes the best they can be.

BBC Scotlands weekend news output offers a great opportunity for someone who has a strong journalistic background and a vision for how our programmes should sound. You will uphold BBC values and enjoy working as part of an ambitious collaborative team. You will be passionate about multi-platform broadcasting and finding new ways to deliver our content to the widest audience possible.

• You will produce and output live radio news programmes selecting editorial content and treatments
• You will book guests and liaise with BBC reporters and correspondents
• This is a senior role so you will need to understand the importance of impartiality; have extensive editorial experience; sound judgement and be assertive in decision making
• As a member of the weekend production team you’ll also produce The Saturday Show as and when required
• As a Senior Journalist on weekend programmes you will be required to work on a Saturday and Sunday

• Detailed knowledge of the Scottish news and sports agenda
• Experience in audio news production
• Awareness and knowledge of media law
• Experience of broadcasting technologies and live outputting
• Experience working in a fast-paced news environment and leading a team
• Track record in delivering original journalism
