Birds of Paradise Theatre Company (BOP) is Scotland's leading disability-led professional theatre company. We create high-quality theatre and provide opportunities for disabled artists to develop and thrive.

We're seeking maternity cover for our Young Artists Development Officer, supporting an existing group of 12 disabled young creatives (18–25) to develop their production for April 2027. The Young Artists retain full creative control of the work; this role provides the dramaturgy, directing, design, or creative producing support they need to realise it, through weekly sessions from January to March 2027 and into production week in April.

You'll receive a full handover from the current post holder before taking on the group independently, and ongoing support from BOP's core team throughout.

Essential
  • 3+ years' experience leading collaborative theatre-making processes in participatory contexts
  • Demonstrable experience working with disabled/neurodivergent young people or young adults
  • Demonstrable experience adapting creative processes to support individual access requirements
  • Substantial project management experience
  • Experience of safeguarding protected adults
Desirable
  • Experience supporting disabled/neurodivergent young people/young adults through transitions
  • Experience creating work with creatively embedded access
  • Lived experience of disability

As a disability-led company creating opportunity in the cultural sector BOP particularly welcomes applications from disabled candidates.

The deadline is Sunday 04 October 2026 at 17:00.
