Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Teaching Fellows at our Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, the major dental referral and teaching centre in the West of Scotland. It benefits from comprehensive modern facilities for patient care, student training, and research into dental and oral diseases and disorders, providing staff with excellent opportunities to develop their clinical teaching skills.
Job PurposeTo deliver high‑quality clinical and pre‑clinical teaching and supervision for undergraduate dental students, primarily in restorative dentistry, with flexibility to support teaching in oral surgery or paediatric dentistry as required. The postholder will also contribute to student assessment, feedback, and delivery of clinical excellence within the Dental School’s teaching clinics and outreach facilities.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesKnowledge / Qualifications
- Essential: Full registration as a dentist with the UK General Dental Council.
- Desirable: FDS or MFDS from one of the Surgical Royal Colleges, or equivalent.
- Certificate in Academic Practice or an equivalent learning and teaching qualification.
- Experience as a Dental Vocational Trainer.
- Postgraduate qualification in restorative dentistry or any restorative monospecialty.

- Ability to provide constructive feedback and student support.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Experience
- Minimum of 4 years post‑qualification with significant clinical experience.
Desirable Experience
- Some experience delivering undergraduate teaching.
- Some experience mentoring others.
- Salary to be on the Speciality Dentist/Doctor Pay Scale (£52,812 – £99,975 per annum pro‑rata).
- Honorary clinic contract will be arranged through NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
- Post is open‑ended; we aim to appoint 2–3 individuals working 1–3 days per week, preferably at least 2 days (four sessions per week, 3.5 hours each).
