Role Overview
The post is a Substantive Specialty Dentist within the Oral Medicine Department based at Glasgow Dental Hospital. The role involves contributing to all aspects of clinical activity in the Department of Oral Medicine. The prime clinical responsibilities include providing specialist services for local general dental and medical practitioners referring outpatients with complex oral mucosal disease, oral disease manifested as a manifestation of systemic disease or complex facial pain.
There is no out of hours or on call commitment apart from an on‑call rota and second cover Consultant Rota to provide an Oral Medicine opinion during working hours and support specialty dentists and junior staff. The successful candidate is expected to support the service re‑design work already underway, offering diagnostic skills, treatment planning and, where appropriate, shared care pathways with primary care clinicians.
Pattern
Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities- Provide specialist dental consultation for outpatients with complex oral mucosal disease, oral disease arising from systemic conditions or complex facial pain.
- Support ongoing service redesign, delivering diagnostic skills, treatment planning and shared care pathways with primary care clinicians.
- Participate in on‑call rota and second cover Consultant rota to ensure oral medicine expertise during working hours.
- Full GDC Registration with at least 4 years of full‑time postgraduate training.
