The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Public Protection Service as a Public Protection Learning and Education Trainer. Working as part of a board wide team, the post holder will play a key role in delivering high quality, multidisciplinary public protection training across NHSGGC. We are seeking candidates who are motivated to contribute to a dynamic and developing service.

The Public Protection Service provides expert advice, support and guidance to staff in NHS GGC on matters relating to Public Protection. The post holder will contribute to the development of a robust Public Protection Department by providing an efficient and effective public protection training service. They will identify and support the training needs of staff employed by, or contracted to, NHSGGC and develop a public protection training strategy informed by legislation, government guidance, research, learning reviews, large-scale investigation recommendations and trauma-informed practice.

You will be committed to collaborative working across professions and agencies and able to make evidence based decisions. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes the Chief Nurse and Head of Public Protection Service, Public Protection Lead Nurses for Child and Adult Support and Protection, Public Protection Nurse Advisors, the Public Protection Medical Lead, the Lead Paediatrician for Child Protection and administrative staff.

The team is based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital site. Public protection training is delivered in person across NHS GGC sites and online via Microsoft Teams. The post requires a first-level clinical qualification, such as Registered Nurse, and at least three years’ post-registration experience in the community or another relevant clinical setting involving public protection issues. A postgraduate qualification, such as a Certificate in Child Protection Studies, Adult Support and Protection module or equivalent, is desirable.

This is a fixed term post of 1 year.

The role is based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Central Medical block annex, Govan Road G51 4TF
.

The shift pattern is Monday to Thursday 9am - 5pm, Friday 9am - 3.30pm.

  • Experience and/or qualification in teaching
  • Knowledge of national policy and research on public protection
  • Knowledge of national and local policies with regard to public protection
  • Understanding and competence in using training and education methods to meet identified learning outcomes
  • Experience in evaluation methods to demonstrate effect of training and education
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills.
