Job OverviewPrincipal Designer (Assistant) – a construction or design professional role focusing on CDM and Health & Safety. This position supports the delivery of Principal Designer duties across a varied portfolio of construction projects, working alongside experienced CDM professionals. Candidates should have 2‑3 years of experience within architecture, architectural technology, or construction and wish to develop deeper knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and safe design principles.
Projects span multiple sectors within the built environment. The role starts office‑based, with a transition to hybrid working after probation.
- Support delivery of Principal Designer duties across construction projects
- Assist with CDM 2015 compliance across project design stages
- Prepare design risk registers and Health & Safety documentation
- Coordinate with architects, consultants and project teams
- Monitor design risk management throughout project lifecycle
- 2‑3 years experience within architecture, construction or consultancy
- Knowledge of CDM 2015 and UK Health & Safety legislation
- Exposure to live construction or design‑stage project environments
- Strong coordination and communication across multidisciplinary teams
- Interest in developing a specialist CDM or safety career
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
23 days annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure
Hybrid working available after successful probation period
Structured CPD with support for APS, IOSH or NEBOSH
