CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN IN RESPIRATORY MEDICINE

Full time available (10 PAs). Part time or job share applications also welcome. Mutually agreed E.P.A.s may be available.

Salary Scale: £111,430 - £148,064 per annum + on-call supplement

Borders General Hospital is a modern and well-equipped 320 bed DGH serving the rural Borders area in South East Scotland, approximately 36 miles from Edinburgh.

The Role

This is a pure Respiratory Medicine post with no commitment to General Medicine or on call unless the successful candidate wants to do so.

The successful applicant will join two other accredited Respiratory Consultants and two long term locum Consultant colleagues to form one component of the Respiratory team (3.1 wte) and will provide a shared service for all respiratory inpatients and outpatients. In‑patient referrals from other teams, on average 3-10 per day, are seen within 24 hours and can be taken over as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care to respiratory inpatients and outpatients.
  • Coordinate with other teams for patient referrals.
  • Ensure timely assessment and management within 24 hours.
Qualifications
  • Hold MRCP or equivalent higher qualification.
  • Fully registered and licensed to practice on the Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine with the General Council, or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
