About the roleWe are developing a national service for adults with inherited metabolic disorders (IMD) and require a specialist metabolic physician and biochemist to lead outpatient care, provide advice, and support outreach across Scotland. The successful candidate will provide care and advice for adults with IMD and their families, primarily within Glasgow, Ayrshire, and the Highlands, and will work closely with colleagues in Edinburgh.
The role takes place in a major centre with advanced laboratory services, including Metabolic Biochemistry and Clinical and Molecular Genetics, and collaboration across a range of medical and surgical subspecialities.
- Provide outpatient clinical care and advice for adults with inherited metabolic disorders.
- Deliver virtual and telephone consultations, and support outreach clinics across Scotland.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including specialists in Edinburgh.
- Contribute to the development and stewardship of the national IMD service.
- Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolic Medicine, or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR), or be within six months of confirmed entry from interview date.
- Postgraduate qualification of MRCP or equivalent.
- For non-UK applicants, demonstrate equivalent qualifications and training.
