Job summary

We are looking for a Salaried GP to join our friendly medium sized practice for two days a week to cover four sessions, Thursday and Friday, however we are flexible. The list size is circa 7000 patients. The practice is well organised with efficient workflow and manageable appointment numbers. The team is passionate about collaborative and holistic care whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Any candidates interested in an informal visit are most welcome.

Experience preferred but newly qualified GPs welcome.

Main duties of the job
  • Provision of high quality holistic clinical care, aligned with current healthcare standards.
  • Focus on the needs of individual patients and develop a shared decision‑making approach where appropriate.
  • Consider the needs of the community and the wider determinants of health.
  • Collaborative working with other health care professions and providers to bring optimal expertise around and individual patient. This includes secondary care and community NHS professionals and the use of all communication pathways available eg advice and guidance.
  • Integration of social prescribing into the care of our patients.
  • Keep good clinical records. The EPR is the glue that holds patient care together. Be clear about what you are thinking. We like a list of differential diagnoses.
  • Working with the operational teams to make everything work well.
  • Working with all other clinical colleagues to support each other.

About us

Rainhill Village Surgery has offered General Medical Services to the local area since 1959 and has been structurally developed to provide excellent facilities from a converted semi-detached property with an extension and parking in a conservation area.

The Practice offers a wide range of general medical services to all its Patients who reside in the Rainhill area of St Helens.

Good transport links from M57 and M62 motorways.

Great links to local surgeries and active member of St Helens South PCN.

First-rate admin support: they take a lot of responsibility on, allowing GPs to concentrate on their clinical duties.

Rainhill Village Surgery has a good reputation and is a training practice. We host Medical Student placements and mentor FY2 placements.

As well as support from GPs in the Practice there is also good local support for early career GPs.

Job responsibilities

JOB TITLE:

SALARIED GENERAL PRACTITIONER

REPORTS TO:

2 Days (4 sessions)

Job summary:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical responsibilities:
  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, lab results and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
