Consultant Paediatrician in Specialist Community Paediatrics

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

You will deliver direct clinical care within a Neurodisability and Neurodevelopmental Service for new and review patients across child centres, including multidisciplinary clinics for children with a wide range of complex needs and the assessment of children who may have autism and other neurodiversities, as part of a multidisciplinary service.

You will provide medical support and specialist advice to colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team. This will include the triage of referrals, participation in Joint Assessment Clinics, and involvement in Coordinated Care Meetings.

You will deliver tertiary-level child protection services as a member of the Royal Hospital for Children (RHC) Child Protection Team, including undertaking child protection medical examinations, participating in Inter-agency Referral Discussions (IRDs), providing inpatient services, and contributing to the child protection on-call rota.

You will liaise effectively with hospital departments and external agencies across hospital and community settings to promote seamless, integrated children's services.

Working closely with the Clinical Director and Clinical Leads, you will support the continued development of integrated care pathways for Specialist Community Paediatric Services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

You will contribute to the planning and ongoing development of Specialist Community Paediatric Teams (SCPTs) across Greater Glasgow and Clyde, including service evaluation, information gathering, policy development and service improvement initiatives.

You will act as an Educational Supervisor for paediatric trainees at all stages of their training and support the development of the future workforce.

You will also contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate medical students and other healthcare professionals, supporting education, learning and professional development across the service.
