Bank General Practitioner (GP) - GMED (Out of Hours Primary Care)

Job Reference: LR258419

The Out of Hours Primary Care (GMED) team is seeking to recruit enthusiastic and committed Bank General Practitioners to join our dynamic and responsive service.

GMED is NHS Grampian's Out of Hours Primary Care Service, providing urgent healthcare to patients when GP practices are closed. The service operates  during weekdays, throughout weekends, and on public holidays, delivering safe, high quality and person centred care across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray.

We support patients with urgent healthcare needs that cannot wait until their own GP practice reopens. Care is provided through telephone consultations, face‑to‑face appointments and home visits by a multidisciplinary team of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and support staff.

Whether you are an experienced GP seeking a new challenge in a fast paced urgent care environment, or a GP looking to broaden your experience, this role offers an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering urgent primary care across Grampian.

As a Bank GP within GMED, you will provide a full range of general medical services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and onward referral. You will work collaboratively with the Clinical Lead, Service Manager and wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and person centred care. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the service.

GMED is committed to education, training and workforce development. As a teaching service, we regularly support medical students, GP Specialty Trainees and Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Paramedics undertaking training and development within urgent care. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching, clinical supervision, mentorship and the development of the future workforce, appropriate to their experience and role.

Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Banchory, Inverurie, Huntly, Elgin, Peterhead and Fraserburgh

Flexibility is essential, as the role will involve evening, overnight and weekend working. Bank GPs may also be required to work across different GMED locations to support safe and effective service delivery and respond to operational demands.
