About the Youth Trustee Role

We want young people not only involved in our projects, but also in decision‑making about our organisation. That’s why we are inviting young people to apply for Youth Trustee roles, joining our Board to become a part of the future of YDance.

A Trustee is part of the Board – the group of people who help guide the organisation and make big decisions. You don’t run things day‑to‑day, but you help with:

  • thinking about future plans
  • asking questions
  • sharing your perspective
  • making decisions fair and inclusive
  • making sure young people’s voices are included

  • want to make a difference
  • like sharing ideas
  • want to grow their skills
  • want experience in leadership

You don’t need qualifications or previous experience.

We especially welcome applications from:

  • disabled and/or neurodivergent young people
  • young people of colour
  • LGBTQ+ young people
  • care‑experienced young people
  • young people outside the Central Belt
  • anyone who’s taken part in YDance projects before
  • young people who face barriers to opportunities
Time commitment

Around 4 hours per quarter, including:

  • 4 board meetings per year
  • one annual Away Day
  • pre‑reading of documents before Board meetings
  • optional training
  • mentoring and support meetings with trustees
