What we are looking for

To become a Personal Learning Coach in our SEN department, we need someone who has experience of working in an educational establishment, is able to organise and manage their time effectively and has a passion for raising the aspirations of others. The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.

We have a variety of students from the surrounding area; we are a welcoming and inclusive community that champions diversity and equality across our college. Our departments collaborate to establish and uphold the inclusive HoW culture as we manage interactions with the public, fellow employees, and nearby schools. Although this position is centred on our Redditch campus, all applicants must be prepared to travel to our other campuses or surrounding areas as required.

What you’ll be doing

To find a more detailed list of day-to-day responsibilities, please refer to the key roles and accountabilities section on our Job Description. In summary, as someone who has an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, you will support in many aspects. To name a few:

  • To provide, on a one to one and group basis, high quality interventions that encourage SEN learners to engage and enable the achievement of realistic yet challenging goals to support future success and progression.
  • To maintain accurate records of all interventions and learner information including personal learning targets, assessments, achievements, progression plans and work placement activities on Pro Monitor and other forms or systems.
  • To manage a flexible caseload of learners, prioritising those with attendance, retention, achievement or support needs.
  • To assist in activities such as recruitment and open events, enrolment activities and assessment of support needs.

Location and other details

The successful applicant will be based at Redditch campus, but may be required to work at other locations from time to time. 30 hours per week for 40 weeks per year. Salary range: £18,057.49 to £19,079.84 per annum. Starting salary depends on qualifications and experience. Probation: 6 months. Annual leave: term-time pay in lieu; statutory holidays as applicable. Pension:
Local Government Pension Scheme.

Qualifications and safeguarding

All staff are required to have a minimum level 2 qualification in English and Maths. Safeguarding training is required. DBS checks will be conducted for shortlisted applicants. All applicants are expected to declare any unspent convictions as per policy. Training and documentation as required by law and policy will be provided.
