About the role

This role will be based at our City Campus with occasional travel to other campuses as and when required.

We are looking for an experienced primary teaching colleague to support primary English provision in our Initial Teacher Education courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate a specialism in teaching and learning in primary English, including early reading and phonics, and will have knowledge and understanding of current and effective teaching approaches across the primary phase. They may also contribute to other primary subject areas and professional development programmes across our provision.

In this role you will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging teaching materials to support students’ learning, exemplifying best teaching practices and ensuring that our students experience innovative and up-to-date pedagogical approaches that they can apply in their own classrooms. You will work closely with partnership school and university colleagues, contributing to the planning, teaching, and assessment of our ITE curriculum, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practices.

Part of your responsibilities will include personal tutoring, offering academic and professional guidance to students, directly impacting the quality of teacher education across Gloucestershire.

A commitment to continuous learning is key; you will be encouraged to engage in research and further study to stay current with evolving teaching methodologies and educational policies.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Specialism and experience in primary English teaching, including early reading and phonics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current and effective teaching approaches across the primary phase.
  • Capacity to contribute to other primary subject areas and to design professional development programmes.
  • Strong organisational, flexible, and collaborative skills to manage a challenging and varied workload.
