Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit 4 x Careers Advisor for contracts until 26th February 2027 on rates of £24.46- £27.88/Hour (PAYE). These roles will have flexible working arrangements. The working hours for these roles will be 3 roles will be 35 hours per week and 1 role will be 28 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Provide Careers Information Advice & Guidance services for customers using a coaching approach on a one-to-one or group basis to facilitate the development of career management skills, set goals and achieve positive sustainable outcomes
- Through a coaching approach to guidance, empower customers to develop career management skills and behaviours which will enable them to be resilient to change in a rapidly shifting economy
- Conduct in depth assessments of customer needs in relation to the development of their career management skills utilising approved tools as appropriate and ensuring an impartial client centred approach.
- Proactively promote services
- Deliver group interventions as appropriate to customers to develop their career management skills with approved tools
- Facilitate customers to develop their own career development plan
- Through intensive one to one coaching provide additional support to customers with more complex needs and barriers to progress their career management journey
- Support customers at the point of transition into employment or a learning/training opportunity
- Liaise with partner organisations relevant to the customer’s situation, referring and attending meetings where appropriate
- Build capability across schools and other partners regarding career management skills and their role in delivery
- Develop and apply expert knowledge of Career and Labour Market Intelligence to meet customer needs
- Use strengths-based approach for own and customer development
- Adhere to professional standards of service, including policies and procedures and CDI Code of Ethics.
- Ensure continuous improvement through reflective practice as well as attendance at relevant training /information sessions to support an updated knowledge base
- Maintain accurate and up to date customer records on CSS and produce reports as necessary
- Manage and track (including aftercare) a personal case load of customers at maximum risk of not achieving an opportunity until they achieve and maintain a positive outcome
- Support customers through transition and into employment or a learning/training opportunity, providing ongoing support and mentoring to ensure the opportunity can be sustained
- Develop ongoing relationships with employers, and learning / training providers which will facilitate sustainability of opportunities
- Initiate and develop effective working relationships with school management teams, within the context of School Partnership Agreements and local operating plans.
- Initiate and develop effective working relationships with colleges, local training providers and other partnership agencies within the context of Partnership Agreements and local operating plans.
- Support customers through transition and into employment or a learning/training opportunity, providing ongoing support and mentoring to ensure the opportunity can be sustained
- Develop ongoing relationships with employers, and learning / training providers which will facilitate sustainability of opportunities
- Initiate and develop effective working relationships with partners within the context of local operating plans.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Development and QCD which is the CDI UK recognised professional accreditation (or its predecessor equivalent) and Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Development
- An understanding of the Scottish Government’s Careers Information Advice & Guidance Strategy and Career Management Skills Framework
- Previous experience of providing careers information, advice and guidance services
- Strong coaching skills
- Knowledge and understanding of Curriculum for Excellence and Opportunities for All
