The Executive Dean (Academic) is a senior academic leadership role within the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow, responsible for providing academic oversight and strategic leadership across the University’s Transnational Education Partnership with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China:
Glasgow College UESTC.

The role is full‑time, fixed‑term (up to four years) and based across Glasgow, Chengdu, and Hainan. It requires strong international and cross‑cultural skills and a commitment to high academic standards.

• Provide senior academic leadership across campuses in Glasgow, Chengdu, and Hainan.
• Ensure high‑quality education delivery within the transnational education partnership.
• Lead and support international partnership governance arrangements.
• Engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Act as the most senior representative of the University of Glasgow in China.

• Extensive experience in international higher education.
• Demonstrated experience in cross‑cultural leadership.
• Proven background in strategic academic management.

This role is central to the success and sustainability of a major transnational education partnership, ensuring that academic standards and institutional values are upheld across international locations. The Executive Dean strengthens collaboration between partner institutions and supports high‑quality educational experiences for students in multiple countries, while advancing the University of Glasgow’s global engagement and reputation.
