Position: Lecturer in Biomedical Science (Learning, Teaching & Scholarship Track)
We have an exciting opportunity for Lecturers in Biomedical Science (Learning, Teaching & Scholarship Track) in the School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing. There are two open-ended posts available – 1 full time, 35 hours per week and 1 part time, 17.50 hours per week, please indicate on your covering letter which post you are applying for.

Job Purpose
To deliver an excellent student experience by contributing to teaching, assessment and administration processes associated primarily with the Undergraduate Medical School, and to undertake scholarship to enhance learning and teaching in the Undergraduate Medical School.
This is a Post-doctoral role in Biomedical Science at the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver a range of teaching, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate programmes. The undergraduate course is delivered through a range of teaching and learning modalities, including anatomy teaching, and the post holder would be expected to make a significant contribution to all of these across the curriculum.Make a specific contribution to the on‑going planning, development, delivery and assessment of the Learning & Teaching provision in the early years of the MBChB programme in an engaging and innovative way, making use of best practice and working within Teaching and Learning strategic frameworks.Contribute to pastoral care and academic supervision of students.Play a supporting role in ensuring GMC requirements of Undergraduate Medical Schools are met.Participate fully in examination and other assessment processes, as appropriate, using a variety of methods and techniques and to provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning. This includes marking of assessments and participation in exam boards.Make a positive contribution to SoMDN & MVLS strategic initiatives, being engaged, flexible and participative in curriculum development and change.Supervise individual student projects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and to contribute to the supervision and training of postgraduate research students, as appropriate, to ensure their effective development.Work in partnership with the UMS Manager and their Team to ensure a high quality student experience.Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.Participate in scholarship, utilising output to inform your teaching and learning practice and, as appropriate, to disseminate the findings by publication in leading journals.Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, World Changers Together.Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications – Essential
Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 [PhD] or equivalent professional and/or teaching experience in a similar or related role.Sufficient breadth and/or depth of knowledge in one or more of the biomedical science disciplines and of teaching methods and techniques to work within the subject area.Thorough knowledge and ability to apply policy, practice and procedures including broader University and Sector (medical education) awareness.Up-to-date knowledge and specialist understanding in the field with an ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students to inspire learning and of providing pastoral care to students.Skills – Essential
