This role is designed for a Graduate Teaching Assistant within the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the student experience through a variety of teaching, assessment, and administrative responsibilities primarily at the undergraduate level.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the planning, organization, and delivery of undergraduate teaching.
- Conduct a range of teaching and assessment activities focused on undergraduate subjects.
- Manage course administration tasks, including effective communication, marking, and providing timely feedback.
- Support the development of teaching materials that align with established learning objectives.
- Utilize learning technologies to enhance course delivery and organization, including online platforms such as Moodle.
- Apply specialized knowledge to meet the diverse needs of learners, fostering participation and achievement.
- Engage in the assessment process using various methods and provide constructive feedback to support student learning.
- Supervise student projects and practical work, offering guidance on skills and techniques.
- Participate in professional development activities as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Contribute to enhancing the Universityâs international profile in line with its Strategic Plan.
- Honours degree (SCQF Level 10) relevant to the teaching area or expertise in a related field.
- Currently registered and working towards a PhD (MPhil/PhD) or PGT qualification in a relevant subject.
- Expert knowledge in the subject area.
- Experience in delivering support to undergraduate or postgraduate students in various learning environments.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring students in practical learning settings.
- Relevant administrative experience, such as student support or course administration.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in using IT and relevant software for teaching and learning.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Capable of meeting deadlines.
- Commitment to the Universityâs values and professional standards.
