Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Glasgow City for a Gas and Renewables Trainer and Assessor. The role involves planning and delivering classroom and workshop‑based training in gas and renewable energy technologies, following approved curricula and industry regulations. The Trainer and Assessor will prepare learning materials, demonstrate practical skills, and support learners through coaching, feedback, and progress reviews.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include assessing learner competence against recognized standards, maintaining accurate training and assessment records, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements. The role also includes collaborating with colleagues to enhance course content, participating in quality assurance activities, and staying current with developments in gas engineering and renewable energy.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical expertise in gas engineering, with current or recent industry experience and relevant gas qualifications (e.g., ACS or equivalent).
• Knowledge and practical understanding of renewable technologies such as heat pumps, solar thermal, or related low‑carbon systems.
• Experience delivering training or coaching in a technical environment, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse learner groups.
• Assessment skills, ideally supported by a recognized assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1/D32 or equivalent), and familiarity with competency‑based frameworks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate learners and provide constructive feedback.
• Organizational skills for lesson planning, record keeping, and managing multiple cohorts or courses effectively.
• Commitment to safe working practices, including adherence to health and safety regulations in classroom and workshop settings.
• Relevant vocational or academic qualification in engineering, gas, or a related discipline; teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, CET, DET) is an advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, contributing to continuous improvement of training programs.
• Willingness to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and best practices in gas and renewables.
