Novus Gower is looking for an Information, Advice and Guidance Worker to provide impartial, learner-centred support, helping individuals explore education, training and employment opportunities within a prison education environment. By offering clear guidance and encouragement, you will empower learners to make informed choices, develop achievable progression plans and prepare confidently for life after release.
We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Gower, our prison education provider at HMP Parc, working as an Information, Advice and Guidance Worker. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40 hours per week.

Site Information
HMP Parc Prison is a Category B men's prison located in Bridgend, Wales. The prison accommodates individuals who have been convicted of various offenses requiring secure custody and rehabilitation. The prisons aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitive environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.
Role Responsibilities
As an Information, Advice and Guidance Worker, you will support learners to identify their strengths, explore education, training and employment pathways, and set realistic goals for the future. You will deliver impartial one-to-one and group guidance, complete initial assessments, develop individual progression plans and work closely with education and prison colleagues to help learners prepare for successful resettlement.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold, or be willing to work towards, a level 3 information, advice and guidance qualification within an agreed time scale
- Hold, or be willing to work towards, a level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy within an agreed timescale
- Have relevant experience of conducting initial assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups (Desirable)
- Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities.
- Be able to discuss evidence of your successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
- Be flexible, pragmatic, learner-focused and non-judgemental
