The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Public Protection Service as a Public Protection Learning and Education Lead
. Working as part of a Board-wide multidisciplinary team, you will lead the delivery and development of a comprehensive Public Protection Learning and Education Programme aligned to the NHSGGC Public Protection Strategy Safeguarding:
It Matters to Us . The post plays a key role in supporting the protection of children, young people and adults across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and includes management, supervision and leadership responsibility for the Public Protection Trainer (Band
6).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Fixed Term Role for 12 months

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

36 Hours Per Week (Mon-Fri 09.00 – 17.00, RWW incorporated within.)

Key responsibilities:

The post holder will provide leadership for the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of public protection learning and education activities across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Working closely with Public Protection Leads, Nurse Advisors, Medical Leads and senior nursing colleagues, you will support the implementation of public protection strategy through the provision of expert education and training. You will identify and respond to organisational training needs, develop and implement a public protection training strategy informed by legislation, national guidance, research findings, learning reviews and trauma-informed practice, and contribute to the ongoing development of a high-quality Public Protection Service.

The role also involves leading inter-agency learning initiatives, managing educational programmes, supporting workforce development, and ensuring training delivery is evidence-based, effective and responsive to service needs.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Registered Nurse with a first-level clinical qualification.
  • Post-registration experience in a community or relevant clinical setting involving public protection issues.
  • Recognised professional teaching/training qualification and/or extensive experience using a range of instructional methods, including classroom, self-directed and computer-based learning.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Child Protection, Adult Support and Protection, or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience and/or qualification in teaching and education delivery.
  • Knowledge of national public protection policy, legislation and current research.
  • Knowledge of national and local public protection policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of training design and educational methods to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Experience of evaluating training effectiveness and demonstrating impact.
  • Experience of developing and managing staff learning and development programmes.
  • Proven experience in organising and delivering inter-agency training.
  • Experience of responding to Training Needs Analysis outcomes.
  • Experience of inter-agency working and collaboration.
  • Demonstrable leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and influencing skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of public protection procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of the impact of abuse and the multi-agency child protection and adult support and protection systems in Scotland.
