The PositionThe role of a Turbine O&M Technician is to support the Turbine O&M Team in the delivery of specific projects. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance to help resolve ongoing issues and implement improvements. Candidates should have a technical background in mechanical and/or electrical systems, preferably in a turbine discipline, with strong analytical fault‑finding capabilities across Electrical, Mechanical & Hydraulic systems.
Experience on Acciona Windpower 1.5 MW wind turbines is highly valued.
The role suits an experienced Wind Turbine Technician who aspires to further develop capabilities in delivering high‑quality maintenance activities and contribute positively to business development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, and interface with customers at site level and during pre‑task coordination.
- Prepare risk assessments, method statements and other client‑required procedures, maintaining a high level of health, safety, quality and environmental awareness.
- Adapt to flexible working, including travel within the UK & Ireland as required by project needs.
Additional knowledge areas are advantageous, and training will be provided for the right candidate, covering:
- Working knowledge of gearbox inspections
- Working knowledge of specialised equipment such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, bore scope and thermal imaging
- Proficient analytical fault‑finding
- Blade repair experience
- Assist with the resolution of onsite technical issues and implement technical improvements
- Lead main component replacements
- Identify and specify tooling requirements
- Conduct technical audits & assessments
- Prepare reporting templates and technical documentation
- Develop and deliver in‑house technical training
- Experience in a health & safety focused environment
- Turbine O&M background – Gamesa and Vestas technologies
- Team leader
- Coordination of subcontractors
- H&S awareness (RA, CoSSH, MS)
- WTSR
- Mechanical or Electrical fault finding
- Use of hydraulic tooling
- Blade repairs
- Good written & verbal communication
- Use of Microsoft Office applications
