Kelly Rail are seeking an experienced HSQE Advisor to join its expanding team in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of critical works across our Network Rail contracts while contributing to the continued growth and success of the business.
As a visible and proactive member of the HSQE team, you will champion a positive safety culture, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures, industry standards and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance assessments across operational work sites.
- Provide practical health, safety, quality and environmental support to managers, supervisors and frontline teams.
- Deliver site inductions, safety briefings, toolbox talks and awareness sessions.
- Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring and constructive engagement with operational personnel.
- Identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with management teams to implement effective corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, Network Rail standards, industry regulations and statutory requirements.
- Liaise closely with clients, including Network Rail representatives, and attend meetings on behalf of the company.
- Support the planning and safe delivery of works, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and appropriately controlled.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, including:
- Gathering evidence and witness statements.
- Conducting root cause analysis.
- Producing investigation reports.
- Tracking and verifying completion of corrective and preventative actions.
- Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work, providing guidance where required.
- Identify training needs and support the development of competence across operational teams.
- Maintain accurate HSQE records, reports and performance data.
- Support internal and external audits and contribute to the continuous improvement of management systems.
- Raise and maintain the profile of health, safety, quality and environmental performance throughout the business.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum qualification).
- Proven experience working as a Health & Safety or HSQE professional within the rail industry.
- Demonstrable experience working on Network Rail infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and rail industry standards.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Ability to undertake root cause analysis and develop effective corrective actions.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong report-writing and administrative skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and work across various locations as required.
