Our client is a leading UK-based energy and engineering consultancy specialising in the design and delivery of low-carbon energy infrastructure. They work across both the public and private sectors, supporting hospitals, universities, residential developments, commercial buildings and large-scale urban projects to decarbonise heat and power systems. Their work plays a key role in supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions through innovative, sustainable energy solutions.

They are growing ay 20% YoY and have a team of 125 MEP Engineers across the UK.

The Role
Our client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a key role in the technical delivery of low-carbon energy projects. This position suits an experienced engineer who can take ownership of design packages and contribute to technical decision-making across multiple projects.
You will lead mechanical design activities across district heating networks, energy centres, trigeneration systems and heat pump solutions, working from concept through to detailed design. The role involves regular engagement with project teams, clients and site activities.

Key Responsibilities

* Leading mechanical design activities for distributed energy and district heating projects

* Interpreting, appraising and documenting client requirements

* Undertaking detailed calculations, equipment selection and process design

* Producing and reviewing schematics and detailed drawings

* Managing cost considerations within the design process

* Identifying and resolving design risks and technical issues

* Ensuring CDM compliance and adherence to internal procedures

* Carrying out HAZOP studies and risk assessments

* Supporting mechanical specifications for tendering works
What You’ll Need

* HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or similar (degree preferred)

* Strong design experience in one or more of the following:
Building Services, CHP, boilers/heating, HVAC, steam, air handling, cooling or renewable technologies

* Proven experience producing detailed mechanical designs

* Competent in AutoCAD

* Full UK manual driving licence
