Senior/Principal Power System Engineer – Jacobs

The Future Energy & Power Systems team is looking for a Senior/Principal Power System Engineer to support our growth across all power sector domains – generation (thermal, renewables & storage), transmission, distribution and industrial systems. The role will be based in the UK, with flexibility to travel between our offices in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Reading, Cardiff and Bristol.
Responsibilities- Lead and deliver a range of power system services, including modelling and verification, feasibility studies, load flow and fault level assessments, grid‑code compliance, interconnection/impact studies and electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies.
- Produce coherent, concise technical reports and contribute technical material and effort estimates to proposals.
- Provide technical support to proposals, modelling and simulation, results analysis and reporting.
- Lead and participate in client meetings and presentations, delivering technical discussions and consultations.
- Collaborate closely with team members across the UK and worldwide on studies in transmission, distribution, renewables and industrial systems.
- Project integration of low‑carbon technologies into the network and development of innovation projects, securing funding through mechanisms such as the Network Innovation Allowance and Strategic Innovation Fund.
- Degree in electrical engineering or higher;
Master’s or PhD in a relevant field is preferred. - Membership of a recognised professional institution at a Chartered level where possible.
- Proficient in power system modelling and analysis using DIgSILENT, PSS/E, ETAP and PSCAD software.
- Previous work experience in power systems, utility and renewable projects.
