Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer (Building Services)
We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer (Building Services) to join our Energy and Special Interest Projects team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Other locations across the UK will also be considered for the right candidate.
What does the role involve?- Lead and support delivery of a wide variety of small and large schemes across RIBA Work Stages 2-7, including energy infrastructure, commercial, industrial, leisure and remote projects.
- Undertake detail design and specification of LV electrical installations and distribution systems, including switch gear, transformers, cabling, control equipment and building services.
- Prepare feasibility, concept design and implementation studies.
- Produce design documentation, specifications, models, drawings, calculations and ensure technical accuracy within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Develop relationships with clients and key suppliers.
- Attend design and site meetings, manage workload.
- Mentor other engineers, reviewing and assuring their work.
- Engage in work‑winning and business development.
- Perform job manager responsibilities.
- Collaborate with delivery teams and Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery.
- A degree in Building Services Engineering or a related degree/masters.
- A professional qualification with CIBSE or IET (or progress towards one).
- Strong knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, Clash Detection, Dialux and Amtech.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role with strong project management skills.
- The ability to manage a variety of projects meeting varying deadlines.
- Strong problem‑solving skills to collaborate with clients, architects and contractors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A good understanding of Information Management standards, including ISO 19650.
- Experience in HV design would be advantageous.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of the UK construction market, UK and Scottish Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
