Design Engineer

Overview

Syntech Recruitment are working with a fast-growing engineering business in Glasgow and are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their expanding design team.

This role suits a technically strong, commercially aware engineer with excellent CREO capability, comfortable owning projects from concept through to manufacture. You'll be working on complex mechanical systems within a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.

• Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to develop engineering solutions that meet defined technical and commercial requirements
• Convert conceptual and sales-level designs into fully detailed, manufacturing-ready technical drawings
• Design large mechanical assemblies and individual components using CREO
• Engineer mechanical equipment including conveyors, support frames, handling systems, and associated assemblies
• Lead and contribute to design reviews, value engineering exercises, and product integration activities
• Take ownership of design projects from initial specification and planning through to final delivery
• Liaise with production, suppliers, and customers to ensure a smooth design-to-build handover
• Produce high-quality 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs to support manufacture and installation

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Minimum 4 years' experience in mechanical design or systems engineering
• Strong working knowledge of CREO (Solid Works or AutoCAD experience beneficial)
• Proven ability to deliver complex engineering projects to tight deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment

Location:

Glasgow, Scotland

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Bonus:
Discretionary annual bonus

Hours:

Monday-Thursday 08:00-17:00, Friday 08:00-13:00
