What We Will Offer You In Return:
- Salary – £48,391.84 starting salary. £51,416.33 upon successful completion of probationary period, plus 20% shift allowance.
- 36‑hour working week – A week refers to 7 days for rostering purposes, inclusive of rest days.
- 237.6 hours annual leave per annum.
- Defined Contribution Pension Scheme with Scottish Widows. Auto enrolment is at 4% which is matched with the option to increase contributions up to a maximum of 10% upon completion of probation. Contributions remain matched.

Role Overview:
This role provides expert technical and production support, ensuring accurate performance reporting and reliable delivery of train services. It ensures all operations meet safety, environmental and presentation standards while supporting continuous improvement across the business. Responsibilities include fault diagnosis, complex repairs, and implementing modifications in line with industry regulations. The post holder acts independently, prioritises effectively, and will develop specialist expertise, all while contributing to company KPIs and long‑term growth.
MainTasks Personnel
- Interpret train‑borne system downloads, diagnose faults, determine repairs, and support condition‑monitoring systems across the fleet.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues, production teams and the Client, including secondary checks and mentoring.
- Support investigations into reliability, availability, safety and performance issues, producing high‑quality technical and non‑technical reports.
- Conduct system tests, implement modifications, and ensure compliance with safety procedures, legislation and quality standards.
- Monitor train performance, resolve repeat failures and contribute to engineering change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records, reporting, documentation and maintenance data (including SRMS).
- Promote best practice, support cross‑team collaboration, and uphold company values and KPIs.
- Carry out tasks independently, prioritising effectively and contributing to improved processes, systems and ways of working.
- Perform any additional reasonable duties in line with role capability and business needs.
What are we looking for?
Essential- Recognised engineering apprenticeship (City & Guilds/BTEC) with Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic bias and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
