Compliance Inspector

Via East Midlands are currently seeking a Compliance Inspector to join our Street Works & Road Works team based out of our Head Office in Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire.

What you’ll do:
  • Inspect activity in the Highway that is governed by the Permit Scheme for Street Works and Road Works to determine whether it complies with all applicable conditions.
  • Inspect all activity in the Highway to ensure it complies with the relevant legislation and that the Traffic Management enables work but minimises disruption
  • Liaise with works promoters to offer advice, guidance and direction to establish appropriate working methods and Traffic Management arrangements
  • Keep clear and concise records of all inspections and meetings to support performance monitoring and the use of sanctions.
  • Liaise with road works coordinators to agree priority works for planning and inspection to optimise the influence on works promoters and effectiveness of inspection
  • Take control of Ad Hoc issues that arise on the Highway to ensure that the Network can continue to operate.
  • Investigate complaints and enquiries about temporary activities in the Highway in order to implement remedial actions where necessary and respond to customers.
What we’re seeking:
  • HNC in Civil Engineering, highway engineering or related subject or directly relevant experience gained within highways maintenance,utility provider,civil engineeringor similar field
  • Experience of the street works and road works environment and of inspecting or managing activities on the highway network
  • ICT skills with experience of using applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, email and the internet
  • Familiar with current legislation, policies, procedures and working methods applicable to street works and road works
  • Current Full Driving Licence
