An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Estimator to join a civil engineering and road surfacing contractor with a long & successful history.
You’ll be a key member of the commercial team, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager and taking ownership of tenders for a range of projects across both the public and private sectors.

- Work on a varied portfolio of civil engineering and road surfacing projects
- Preparing cost estimates and quotations for public contract tenders and private clients in line with pricing strategies, tender documentation and relevant specifications/legislation
- Drafting responses to technical and quality questions, including method statements and risk assessments
- Producing take‑offs from drawings and compiling BOQs/Activity Schedules where required
- Gathering and reviewing subcontract and material quotations to support accurate cost build‑ups
- Managing and prioritising your workload to ensure all tender and contractual deadlines are met
- Producing detailed handover documentation, including cost allowances and project information, to ensure a smooth transition from bid to operations
- Following up on submitted tenders to obtain feedback and drive continuous improvement in future bids
- Some previous experience as an Estimator on road surfacing and civil engineering projects
- Strong understanding of cost control and construction contracts, particularly NEC
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
- Confident communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Strong time management and planning skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Full, valid UK driving licence
In addition to your salary/core benefits, you’ll receive a market‑leading car allowance. The business works a 39 hour week.
