Job Description Summary

Become part of a winning team and help to deliver the Green Energy transition. Lead and manage the EHS site team members efficiently to support the implementation of the Site EHS Management System. Implement and maintain the Site Environmental, Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, contractual and company requirements. Implement and maintain the Site Security Management System when relevant, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Define and monitor actions to improve EHS performance in Construction & Commissioning and reduce the likelihood and severity of EHS events and Site Security breaches.

Job Description Tasks & Responsibilities: EHS Role
  • Lead by example and commit to the deployment of the GE GSI EHS Policy “Our Commitment to EHS” and compliance with site EHS rules.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of site rules defined in the Site CPP‑EHS Plan, revise as necessary in agreement with the Project Director, and take appropriate actions in the event of non‑compliance.
  • Manage ongoing programs and action plans for environmental protection, including permits for air emissions, hazardous waste, and wastewater management.
  • Ensure full implementation of GE standards and procedures at site (EHS Directives, Work Instructions, Guidelines, EHS Roadmap standard, etc.).
  • Monitor fulfilment of EHS contractual requirements with subcontractors.
  • Ensure rigorous risk assessment / method statement identification, preparation, review, and communication processes.
  • Record, report, investigate, and analyze all site EHS events (accidents, incidents, near‑misses, first aid cases, property damage, etc.) in a timely manner to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor quantity and quality of site EHS inspections carried out by site personnel.
  • Advise site management on legal exposure and EHS concerns related to any change or decision at site.
  • Define and implement an EHS Subcontractor audit program to monitor compliance with statutory, regulatory, contractual and company requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the EHS Project Governance and execution plans.
  • Implement GE Safety Culture Programmes: STOP, Life Saving Rules and Safety Footprints.
CDM Skills
  • Consult with GE Designers and ensure the Project Director is suitably informed of project status; liaise with CDM duty holders (Principal Designer, Principal Contractor & Client) to ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Ensure Design Risk Register reviews are completed by GE PDF Designers and GE Suppliers and submitted to the Principal Designer on a 3‑month basis.
  • Deliver CDM Awareness training to GE PDG Designers and project teams.
  • Provide CDM tutorials and support for GE Suppliers.
  • Attend GE internal meetings as required to support and problem‑solve EHS issues and ensure that, as reasonably practicable, GE provides equipment and systems that are safe from harm.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required
  • Good computer skills using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and Diploma in EHS (NEBOSH or equivalent); university level (MSc/BSc) in EHS preferable.
  • IOSH membership – minimum Certified Level (Cert IOSH), CMIOSH or working towards preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of local EHS legislation.
  • International EHS regulatory knowledge / qualification as required.
  • Good working knowledge of UK CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience with independent standards organisations and audit certification programme requirements such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.
  • Demonstrated years of experience in EHS and CDM‑2015 in a construction site/project environment.
  • Problem‑solving and root‑cause identification skills.
  • Ability to navigate in a multi‑cultural environment.
  • Excellent experience working in a matrix organisation.
  • Computer literacy.
  • High proficiency in English (oral & written).
