Job Profile

Quantity Surveyor

Civil engineering contractor operating across the UK seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team based in East Kilbride. The role is suitable for an ambitious individual with a background in civil engineering, scaffolding/access, or industrial projects.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review tenders, quotations, and contract documentation
  • Manage project budgets, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Monitor costs throughout project life cycles to maintain profitability
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage contract administration under NEC
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure commercial objectives are met
  • Support procurement, including materials, plant, and subcontractor packages
  • Produce regular commercial reports and forecasts for senior management
  • Provide guidance to junior team members (for senior-level appointments)
  • Identify opportunities for cost improvement and commercial efficiencies
Requirements
  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering
  • Proven experience in civil engineering, scaffolding/access, or industrial project environments
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms
  • Excellent numeracy, reporting, and commercial analysis skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant commercial software
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required
