SPT is the proud custodian of the Glasgow Subway. Our services call at 15 stations, stretching across the West End and City Centre of Glasgow. Over the next few years, we will be making history with huge investments that will affect all areas of operations, from new trains to station upgrades and local community support.

About the Role

The Lead Technical Trainer is a member of the Maintenance Services team supporting the Maintenance Services Manager. You will lead the delivery of technical training, competence assessment and internal verification for the maintenance of subway assets. You will develop and deliver training and competence assessment materials for technical training programmes including induction, refresher and cross‑skilling. You will contribute to training needs analysis, clearly defining safety‑critical task learning outcomes and competence assessment methods.

You will ensure that all staff are trained, competence is documented and maintain accurate training and competence records to report on KPIs and for audit purposes.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience of developing and delivering technical training material and working in an environment where safety is paramount. You will be able to demonstrate experience of risk‑based competence management and assessment. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work within a safety‑critical environment. An SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an Engineering discipline and a training delivery qualification (City & Guilds, MOI or equivalent) and a competence assessor qualification are essential.

Previous experience in railway signalling and telecoms, networks and high‑voltage substations would be preferential.

A highly motivated, professional, reliable and capable individual will be a team player with the ability to motivate others to consistently deliver and improve upon set standards. You will use your strong communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our training is delivered in a professional manner and deliver positive change.
