Position: Maintenance Team Leader - Southern England - Approx £56/57k pa

This is a “Working” Team Leader role on a 24/7 shift pattern.

Controls & Instruments trained with Electrical knowledge.

Job Purpose

The core activities of the role will be to perform Planned and Reactive work in a technically correct and safe manner. To install, repair, inspect and overhaul plant and machinery to ensure continuous production. Prime function includes Planned Preventative Maintenance, Fault Diagnosis, Calibration and Repair of electrical and controls Equipment. Actively involved in the deployment of Asset Care by working on PM (professional maintenance) projects.

Additional functions include the modification, installation and commissioning of plant and equipment.

In addition to this, the Team Leader will also be responsible for:

  • Driving the performance of the shift team to maximise the utilisation of the team across both reactive and planned work.
  • Working with the Maintenance Coordinators to ensure that daily work expectations are met, and the shift team are supporting the Mill’s activities as required.
  • Ensuring all members of the shift team are performing to defined standards and procedures for HSE, Quality and Security.
  • Acting as a focal point for resolution of daily operational, technical and resource issues either within the team as appropriate or through the support of the Maintenance Manager or supporting technical areas.
Qualifications and Experience
  • HNC, ONC or BTEC National Cert in Instrumentation controls Engineering.
  • Ideally an HNC, ONC or BTEC National Cert in Electrical Engineering.
  • A time served recognised apprenticeship acquired through the process industry within Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Electrical experience advantageous.
  • Applicants must have previous experience of fault finding and diagnostics on various process plant and machinery as well as routine maintenance.
  • Technically competent within area of Engineering training to enable effective resolution of daily technical and operational issues.
  • Relevant experience from a large-scale manufacturing/processing environment.
  • Sound understanding of Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, Engineering and Security requirements/regulations.
  • Ability to organise resources effectively and swiftly.
  • Actively manages, engages with, supports and works collaboratively with the team.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to lead, coach and motivate people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work from the field instrumentation through the PLC/DCS.
  • The ability to understand and use safely and effectively different specialist test, calibration, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Understanding of the quality, cost, delivery and commercial requirements of customer and business.
  • Ability for highly accurate and complex work for small intricate tasks as well as the ability for to carry out and large physically demanding jobs under varying working conditions.
