As part of HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, you'll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive.

As a Graduate Sustainability Consultant you will assist senior consultants and the wider team in the design process to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry. You will carry out tasks and calculations in accordance with industry guides and make a key contribution to successful project delivery. You will assist and prepare reports and other deliverables, and with a keen eye for detail you will become conversant with a broad range of sustainability and resiliency issues, including building, transport and energy.

• Assist senior consultants/colleagues with project tasks and production of high-quality deliverables.
• Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design.
• Carry out calculations and develop a full understanding of relevant energy and sustainability principles.
• Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications.
• Develop an understanding of appropriate legislation standards, building regulations, and codes of practice.
• Learn and understand sustainability principles and develop awareness of other design disciplines.
• Maintain a training log, recording achievements and experience.
• Attend appropriate and relevant site visits and meetings as and where applicable to the role or the project.
• Attend relevant training as required by the practice to work towards chartered status.
• Attend and arrange lunch time CPD and knowledge sharing sessions.
• Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects.

• Degree in a relevant subject (energy, engineering, environmental) or equivalent experience.
• Good IT knowledge and experience featuring Microsoft Packages.
• Personable and a 'can do' attitude with resource management experience.
• Be clear, concise, professional and personable when communicating with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
• The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times.
• Some knowledge of energy efficiency, and carbon conversion factors would be desirable.
• Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and clients.
• To be able to work as part of a team and collaboratively and cooperatively.
