The Role
As a Graduate Sustainability Consultant you will assist senior consultants and the wider team in the design process to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry. You will carry out tasks and calculations in accordance with industry guides and make a key contribution to successful project delivery. You will assist and prepare reports and other deliverables, and with a keen eye for detail you will become conversant with a broad range of sustainability and resiliency issues, including building, transport and energy.
Responsibilities- Assist senior consultants/colleagues with project tasks and production of high-quality deliverables.
- Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design.
- Carry out calculations and develop a full understanding of relevant energy and sustainability principles.
- Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications.
- Develop an understanding of appropriate legislation standards, building regulations, and codes of practice.
- Learn and understand sustainability principles and develop awareness of other design disciplines.
- Maintain a training log, recording achievements and experience.
- Attend appropriate and relevant site visits and meetings as and where applicable to the role or the project.
- Attend relevant training as required by the practice to work towards chartered status.
- Attend and arrange lunch time CPD and knowledge sharing sessions.
- Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects.
- Degree in a relevant subject (energy, engineering, environmental) or equivalent experience.
- Good IT knowledge and experience featuring Microsoft Packages.
- Personable and a 'can do' attitude with resource management experience.
- Be clear, concise, professional and personable when communicating with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
- The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times.
- Some knowledge of energy efficiency, and carbon conversion factors would be desirable.
- Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and clients.
- To be able to work as part of a team and collaboratively and cooperatively.
