Réalis is seeking a pro‑active and enthusiastic Geo‑Environmental Consultant to join our award‑winning Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team within the Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice, based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh with flexible hybrid working. You will deliver innovative brownfield solutions for major UK infrastructure projects in transportation, energy, buildings and water markets. Role
  • Organisation, collation and assessment of desk‑based information as part of Phase 1 Contaminated Land Desk Studies.
  • Design of Phase 2 site investigations, including organising, supervising and undertaking environmental/geo‑environmental site investigation and monitoring scopes; regular site‑based work such as contractor supervision, soil sampling and logging, environmental monitoring/sampling, and supporting others on site.
  • Compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, including preparation of H&S Plans for site investigation and managing health and safety on site.
  • Preparation and delivery of factual and interpretative reporting. May include digital data management, development of conceptual site models, qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment, hydrogeological modelling, and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
  • Support with remediation design, implementation and verification.
  • Maintain CPD and develop own competence with support for training and development.
  • Manage work independently, supporting senior management to deliver projects on‑time, on‑budget and to client expectations.
About You
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g., geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental science).
  • Working towards Chartered Membership of relevant professional body.
  • Relevant post‑graduate experience, ideally in a consultancy environment, with a track record of delivering work on‑time, on‑budget and to client expectations.
  • Demonstrable understanding of land contamination/brownfield issues including relevant codes of practice and industry standards.
  • Experience in site‑based work, including soil and rock logging, soil/gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring/sampling, and supervision/management of contractors on brownfield sites.
  • Familiarity with Principal Contractor duties in accordance with CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Good organisational skills and an appetite for outdoor work in all weathers.
  • Team player willing to learn and make a difference.
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site‑based work across the UK.
  • Experience on safety‑critical sites (e.g., nuclear or electricity infrastructure) is a plus.
  • Additional specialist skills in hydrogeological modelling, EIA, environmental permitting, waste and materials management are particularly welcomed.
  • Experience with GIS (QGIS and/or ArcGIS).
Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance. Employment offers will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If required, the vetting process will be conducted by the United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of residency in the United Kingdom for five years or longer.
