Overview
We are looking for an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer to join our Reactor Operations team in the UK. In this role you will lead and manage complex civil and structural engineering projects across the nuclear industry, including inspection, assessment and modification of existing structures, and the multidisciplinary design of new facilities to process and store nuclear waste. You will also contribute technical input to the UK’s Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) and support projects at operating and defueling power stations.
Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of civil and structural engineering projects.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams.
- Lead the development of solutions through the design lifecycle – concept, scheme, detailed design and construction.
- Support the development of bids and value propositions.
- Manage project budgets, schedules and resources to ensure timely and cost‑effective delivery.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to build strong, lasting relationships.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Inspect, assess and modify existing structures to maintain safety and integrity.
- Design steel and reinforced concrete structures for nuclear facilities and waste handling systems.
- Chartered Engineer through ICE or IStruct
E (CEng MICE or CEng MIStruct
E). - Significant experience designing steel and reinforced concrete structures.
- Previous experience working in the UK nuclear industry is advantageous.
- Experience with inspection, assessment and modification of existing structures.
- Strong judgment in managing uncertainty and technical risk.
- Proven track record supporting and developing the careers of others.
