Senior Road Engineer to Associate; Roads

Job Description

WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Engineer to Associate to join the Roads team based in Scotland. The team delivers highway consultancy services to support our clients through all stages of the project life‑cycle from feasibility and concept design through to planning, detailed design, and construction. WSP is recruiting to add to the team working on the Performance Audit Group (PAG).

PAG is an independent private sector organisation employed by Transport Scotland which monitors the performance of the Operating Companies. PAG audits, monitors and reports on the financial, technical and performance aspects of the Operating Companies to a plan agreed with Transport Scotland. The role is a PAG Winter Maintenance Technical Advisor vacancy, responsible for providing advice on the technical and operational issues which may arise as a result of the Employer’s contracts with suppliers involved in winter maintenance works and services associated with a roads network.

• Review, analyse and advise on technical specifications and technical standards associated with the Employer’s contracts with suppliers involving winter maintenance operations on a roads network.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, standards and best practice in the development and management of contracts with respect to technical specifications and technical standards associated with winter maintenance operations required for a roads network.
• Be fully conversant with and understand the relevant parts of supplier contracts.
• Produce reports on the delivery and effectiveness of suppliers’ works and services associated with winter maintenance.

• Chartered professional relevant to the role.
• Comprehensive experience of technical specifications and technical standards and legislation associated with winter maintenance works and services required for a roads network.
• Demonstrable comprehensive knowledge of technical specifications and technical standards and legislation associated with winter maintenance works and services required for a roads network.
• Demonstrable moderate experience of contract development.
