We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimise the mobility of people and goods.

In Engineering, you will create some of the world’s most iconic and ground‑breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together.

We are seeking a Technical Manager (Senior/Principal) to join our Highways team, playing a key role in delivering complex infrastructure projects while supporting the growth of our people and client relationships. In this role, you will take ownership for the delivery of highways projects or work packages, ensuring successful outcomes across quality, cost and programme, while balancing technical excellence with commercial and contractual awareness.

You will lead teams of engineers across multiple locations, overseeing the design of complex major highways schemes, taking ownership of the design and design reviews.

  • Support the management of project risk, opportunities and change, contributing to robust decision‑making
  • Lead and support project teams (typically 5–15 engineers and technicians), including sub‑consultants
  • Oversee resource planning and workload management to ensure efficient delivery
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to a high standard of client care
  • Support quality assurance, verification checking and interdisciplinary design reviews
  • Contribute to proposals, technical development and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Experience delivering highways or infrastructure projects across the full lifecycle, including option assessment, statutory processes, preliminary and detailed design
  • Strong, practical understanding of contract, scope, risk and change management within project delivery
  • Experience working with, or understanding of, NEC4 contracts would be advantageous
  • Demonstrable experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating delivery
