Salary£58,100 - £87,100 + car/allowance + performance‑related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

The roleAs part of our Net Zero journey, the Onshore AC Project Engineering team is seeking a Senior Civil Project Engineer to join our new Customer Connections team. You will play a key role in delivering a high volume of customer‑driven connection projects at pace, applying your civil engineering expertise to champion standardised designs, modular construction principles and innovative delivery techniques that support fast, efficient rollout across our high‑voltage transmission network.
Responsibilities- Provide expert Civil engineering leadership, enabling the rapid, consistent delivery of multiple Customer Connection projects through standardised and efficient design approaches.
- Support and mentor early‑career engineers, building capability across the discipline and promoting a culture of learning, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Lead the development and assurance of Civil designs, driving modern design and construction techniques, repeatable layouts and streamlined construction methods to deliver quality at pace.
- Contribute to senior technical reviews and approvals, offering clear, pragmatic input to Project Engineers and external designers to maintain quality, safety and programme certainty.
- Build strong relationships with supply chain partners and delivery teams, ensuring Civil designs are practical, compliant and aligned to accelerated construction and a smooth, standardised handover process.
- Demonstrable experience in transmission development/design/specification and be comfortable to technically assess issues and/or problems and critically assess a range of technical solutions.
- A keen focus on design standardisation and driving continuous improvements in business processes, procedures and systems and a passion for developing Pipelines Engineers.
- Understanding the technical requirements for design, planning, operation and development of the transmission network and aspects requiring coordination with other project disciplines.
- Effective communication skills, and you must be able to communicate often complex technical issues clearly and concisely to facilitate decision making by senior management.
- Achieved, or actively working towards, Chartered Engineering Status.
