Job Title:
Fire Engineer.
Salary range: £35,000–£50,000 per annum depending on experience.
Location:
Glasgow or Leatherhead.
Working pattern: flexible hybrid (office and remote).
Closing date: 7 August.
- Provide a high‑quality fire engineering service to clients.
- Interact directly with a variety of clients across highly regulated sectors such as nuclear energy, defence, and rail.
- Plan and deliver work, including attending client sites across the UK when required.
- Provide technical input into fire modelling and simulation, fire strategy, fire testing, fire system design, and fire safety case.
- Project manage a variety of projects with accountability for resources and budgets.
- Contribute to business development and manage enquiries with both new and existing clients.
- PhD, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fire engineering, or demonstrable interest in fire engineering.
- Experience in high‑hazard or highly regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, petrochemicals, chemicals, defence, rail), including fire safety case, fire strategy, or fire modelling and simulation.
- Must be able to undergo pre‑employment screening and satisfy UK National Security Vetting clearance criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD, MSc, or BEng in Fire Engineering (or equivalence by experience).
- Experience with fire modelling tools such as NIST CFAST or FDS.
- Experience undertaking DSEAR assessments.
- Working towards or holding Chartered status with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).
- Experience working on multidisciplinary projects.
