Senior Analyst​/Environmental Consultant - Water Quality

The role focuses on delivering high‑profile water‑quality projects, including advanced modelling, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. You will play a key role in achieving significant growth and meeting stringent policy and regulatory development requirements.

• Develop advanced process‑based modelling for water quality and integrated catchment.
• Deliver catchment‑scale river water quality assessments, supporting regulatory frameworks such as the Water Framework Directive.
• Use RQP / MPER for environmental permitting, compliance assessment and statistical evaluation of discharge impacts.
• Provide technical leadership for water quality studies, including modelling, investigations, urban pollution modelling and EIAs.
• Support project teams with scheduling, tendering, planning and delivery.
• Foster a culture of support, proactively contributing to the mentoring, professional and personal development of colleagues.
• Be the key stakeholder interface across all technical and commercial matters.
• Check and review calculations and technical deliverables.
• Continuously develop subject‑matter expertise in the application of UK and European water quality modelling standards and analytics.
• Write and review technical reports.

• Chartered member of or keen to work towards CIWEM or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience collaborating with both water utility companies and regulators.
• Experience in urban pollution modelling and nutrient modelling.
• Proficiency with R/RStudio and Python, including AI and machine learning.
• Experience in environmental permitting.
• Sound understanding of the importance of water quality in strategic and tactical decision making.
• In‑depth understanding of recent developments in water quality policy and legislation.
• Track record of working with key stakeholders and clients (e.g., Defra, Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Planning Authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Environmental NGOs).
• Experience developing and implementing water quality tools, such as UPM water quality modelling tools, analytical and visualisation tools.
