We’re looking for an Environmental Coordinator to join our HMP Glasgow team on a fixed‑term contract for 18 months in a key role supporting the environmental and sustainability ambitions of the project.
LocationGlasgow – on site with some opportunity for hybrid working.
Hours40 per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired.
About the RoleThis is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of environmental commitments on a live construction project at HMP Glasgow. As Environmental Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring environmental risks are identified, managed and monitored, whilst helping the project remain compliant with legal, client and Kier standards.
- Champion best practice across our supply chain.
- Support audits and reporting.
- Contribute to achieving sustainability targets including waste reduction, carbon management, pollution prevention, biodiversity protection and considerate construction.
- Support the implementation of the Project Environmental Management Plan and maintain environmental documentation, including risk assessments, compliance trackers, waste records and inspection logs.
- Carry out regular environmental site inspections, identify risks such as water pollution, dust, noise and spills, and work collaboratively with site teams to implement effective controls.
- Drive compliance with waste segregation and duty of care requirements, maintain accurate resource data and promote resource efficiency across the project.
- Support sustainability outcomes including carbon reduction initiatives, biodiversity requirements, supply chain engagement and scheme‑specific deliverables.
- Engage with package managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients to build strong environmental behaviours, deliver toolbox talks and support audits and reporting.
- Degree in a sustainability or environmental specialism.
- Confidence with data analysis and experience in sustainability reporting covering waste, carbon, water and responsible sourcing.
- Strong organisational and administration skills with attention to detail in document control and tracking.
- Clear and collaborative communication skills, able to build positive relationships across teams.
- Competent IT user, particularly with MS Office and Excel for data handling and reporting.
